Hi, I'm Colette, young-ish single-ish female, from England, travelling to Oz for approx. 6 weeks from mid-July til end Aug and hoping to explore the East Coast. Ideally I'd like to be with a fairly young, friendly easy going group (aged 20-40?) who like the occasional social beer as the sun goes down. Was planning to fly into Sydney and travel up the East Coast up to Whitsundays, maybe beyond so anywhere East Coast considered for a meeting point. I have some dinghy sailing experience, and I'm doing my Competent Crew cert. in May. I am very willing to share whatever duties necessary, and I'm a pretty good cook. I like most watersports, including diving, kayaking and surfing (even though I'm not very good at that yet!) so any opportunities to join in with those are def. welcome. Hope I'm not asking for too much... if you want to get in touch, send me an e-mail. Cheers, Colette

SEEKING STEWARDESS JOB 25 Mar 2009 14:36
From: Monica
Email:
Message:
Hi there! I'm Monica. I am a fit, friendly, adventurous 22 year old American college student looking to get a job as your new stewardess!
I spent the month of January on an 80 foot sailboat in the Caribbean this past year. I saw Jost Van Dyke, Tortola, St John and St Thomas, and I LOVED every minute of it! I was the nanny on the boat, but I also ended up doing a lot of stewardess-type work. (cleaning the cockpit and all the cabins and bathrooms daily, changing sheets, doing laundry at the marina, washing dishes, occasionally cooking...I even learned how to tie a bowline, tie onto a cleat, and drive the dinghy!)
I have no sailing experience, but I am VERY willing to learn, and I'm a smart cookie! If you are looking for an energetic, fun-loving stewardess for June-August (possibly beyond, I haven't decided just yet if I'll be going back to school in September) and don't mind doing a little coaching, please feel free to contact me!
I look forward to hearing from you! Have a great day!

Crew wanted - Various legs of Sydney, Whitsunday Islands, Cairns, PNG & Return 3 Feb 2009 09:38
From: Rob
Club: H I Yacht Club
Email: sailinglife101@hotmail.com
Message:
Sailing from Sydney in April, on a very modern and comfortable 55foot sloop, bound for Hamilton Island. Then cruise Whitsundays for a month or two, then sailing further north to Cairns, Lizard Island, then possibly Papua New Guinea for month or two, and return to Sydney in November.
Yacht in A1 condition, with excellent safety equipment. Yacht and skipper have extensive experience in ocean crossings and navigating coral reefs.
Voyage up and back will be mainly day sailing with only a couple of overnight sails, so should be a relatively easy sail. Total crew will be 3-4 persons.
Need crew for all or various legs of voyage. If sailing all legs, crew would need to have alternative accommodation options at Hamilton Island and Lizard Island for 2-3 weeks each port.
Looking for crew who have some sailing experience, easy to get along with, can cook (because the skipper can't), preferably have love of diving and have PADI certification, age 38 plus, non smoker and definitely no drugs.

Crew members should have pro-active personality with good social and communication skills and a good sensitivity to others. We will spend time together doing exercise and creative performances such as theater, singing, music, dance, games and much more. What we expect of the crew aboard: Everyone shall participate in maintenance work and typical sailors duties incl. cooking, regular cleaning, watch keeping, running systems and machinery and so forth. From 2006 – 2008 Infinity sailed on a Planetary Coral Reef Foundation expedition (www.pcrf.org) from Thailand to Fiji and back via Singapore, Indonesia, PNG, Solomons and Vanuatu. Currently we are doing some charter work in the Andaman Sea. The plan is to experience an off the beaten track sailing adventure while making positive contributions to people and places visited. We cherish the remote South Pacific islands dance customs, music and art traditions. Launching the “Sea Dance Festival”, Infinity will sail the Pacific islands bringing fun and entertainment in a multi-cultural mix of dance, theater, music and film. Our goal is to playfully connect the cultural inheritance of both worlds contributing at our own level to everyone’s amusement... Who are we ? “a life spent at sea is a life well spent”. The captain of Infinity, Clemens, has been sailing the oceans for many years including the south Pacific. He’s a sea gipsy at heart and an experienced team leader and ship builder. The crew’s well-being and harmony are essential to him and he cares for other people’s feelings and beliefs. His two kids Tara 10 and Ruben 9 are growing up at sea and will take part in the voyage. Stephanie is a 34 yrs old former company lawyer who decided to join the voyage to live her dream instead of dreaming her life. Her energy and enthusiasm are contagious. Hi

I am looking for people with either good coastal experience or a strong sense of adventure, as my coastal experience is very limited, to help me take a Hartley South seas 38’ from Townsville to Sydney.

It is being re-engined now and will be ready to leave mid to late January. If you are employed and can not obtain sufficient annual leave you can do “legs”. Although I would prefer someone that can do the lot so this does not turn into a logistical nightmare working out crews and “legs”.

Social drinkers and smokers OK ..drug use of any type not acceptable.

If you have sufficient experience and take a lead role in getting us back (safely) I will pay for all costs and your return airfare. If you don’t then we will share the cost (except any boat maintenance cost’s they are my expense). How long will it take? I am in no rush so if we get lost in the Whitsundays on the way down so be it. If we end up in the rally that leaves Morton Bay for Vanuatu in April, oh well that’s life.

If this sounds like you and you have the time please feel free to email me for more information.

Regards

Manni

Message: I'm a 19 year old male looking to go as crew with anyone on the NSW or Victoria - coasts, going pretty much anywhere. I have previous sailing experience but would definitely see this as an opportunity to learn and experience more. I'll happily pay for my own food and things. If you're in need of someone to crew, just drop me an e-mail. Cheers!
