This is a guide for clubs, businesses and individuals who would like to
contribute to the Boating OZ reports.
We welcome news on events, new products and anything to do with sailing, boating, fishing
or diving.
However, media releases will only be published if they have sufficient news content. If
not, advertising will be suggested. With limited space and numerous contributions not all
media releases are published.
Distribution
Our distribution figures are reported on the bottom of each
newsletter. See the links to the newsletters on the news index at http://www.boatingoz.com.au/newsframes.htm
For a breakdown of Australian International media and marine industry please email .
Timing
If you want to advertise an event timing is important. Think of how much
time people will need to be able to enter or attend.
Send results in as soon after the event as possible.
Deadlines
Sailing & General Boating - Tuesday 9am
Travel & Sydney Corporate - 14th of each month
Format
Email your news to us either within the email or attach a Word document.
Word documents may lose html text.
DO NOT USE ALL CAPITALS
Layout
1. Date
2. Heading
3. Text
4. Contact details - name, organisation, phone, fax, email address and website address
should be listed at the end of a media release.
Size
You can either have a limit of 80 words including heading, contact and
website address on the report, or if your media release is longer it will be put on the
Boating OZ website with a link to it from the report.
We recommend that media releases are 200 words or less. The first paragraph should have
lots of info in it as we often use this as our teaser from the newsletters. Write it like
you have 10 seconds to make a point. Because online, you do.
Content
Up-coming events - correct name of event, date/s, location and organiser.
Focus on an unusual aspect of one of the competitors, a boat or the location.
Results - Tell us about the unusual, a protest, a prang or about a boat or competitor. We
want the story behind the results. Let us know the top 5 if you have a website or the lot
if you don't.
New Products - Tell us the benefits of the product or relate a story to this effect. Give
technical details and materials used but don't say it is the best.
All copy - Keep it concise. Think about how you would explain it to a friend in an
elevator on the way out. Limit superlatives.
Photographs
Photographs may be included if they are of a high quality. We prefer
photographs in .jpg format.
