July 11 - Margaret Williams has been anchored in the Whitsunday Islands repairing her rigging which is threatening her attempt to became the first woman to sail around Australia solo, nonstop and unassisted. She plans to continue sailing today. The sidestays have been reinforced to the best of her ability, and she will keep an eye on them sailing up the coast. July 7 - Queensland Government South Pacific Boomerang - Race leader Andrew Short Marine-Club Marine has reached the half way point in the Melbourne to Vanuatu race. Behind her, the fleet was blasted by a strong southerly squall. Don Fraser’s and Bruce McKechnie’s Beneteau 47.7 Elektra suffered a broken gooseneck and Phil Coombs’ Dekadence suffered main sail and carr damage, adding to the problems they were already experiencing with the auto helm. July 3 - Margaret Williams became the first woman to sail around Australia solo when she sailed past Mooloolaba on Wednesday but she has to sail to Fremantle to complete a non-stop circumnavigation. Initially she opted to sail outside the Great Barrier Reef but has decided to come inside through Hydrographers Passage to do repairs. July 2 - Queensland Government South Pacific Boomerang - 21 yachts started in the Melbourne to Vanuatu yacht race. Sydney entry, Andrew Short Marine, ran aground in shallow waters just outside of Portsea only an hour before the race and arrived at the start line with just 10 minutes to spare. http://www.melbournevanuatu.com

July 2 - The second last pointscore race in the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s 2006 BMW Sydney Winter Series ended with today with protests involving placegetters in two divisions and just a handful of points between the leaders in almost all ten divisions. June 29 - Sean Langman is switching from speed to nostalgia by restoring a 1932 built 9.01 metres (29.5 feet) yacht to contest this year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 70 years after the boat made its only successful voyage to Hobart - having being wrecked on the first attempt. When she passes Mooloolaba she will have circumnavigated Australia but she has to sail to Fremantle to complete a non-stop circumnavigation. June 25 - Next Sunday, July 2nd, the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria will start the Melbourne to Vanuatu 1,850 nautical mile ocean yacht race off Portsea and Geelong entrant, 'Ocean Skins', an Inglis 47, owned by Tony Fowler, will be amongst over 20 starters. June 22 - Sea Safety and Survival Revalidation made easier - Sailors that have completed more than 2,500 offshore nautical miles over the last 5 years will be able to complete and sign a declaration to that effect, listing any races or passages that go to make up the miles sailed. Those in a position to sign such a declaration will be entitled to enrol on the shorter, update course (1 day) if they wish, rather than repeat the whole SSSC (2 days). Farr Yacht Design launches design #605, the world's first ORC GP42. The Farr GP42 project "Roma" began in October 2005 with ORC's announcement of this new class. June 19 - Newport Bermuda Race - A record-breaking fleet of 264 yachts set off for Bermuda with one less boat after "Pindar Artemas" skippered by Nicholas Black hit a rock just prior to their starting gun. June 14 - The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia is updating its records of women sailors who have competed in 10 or more Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Races.
