July 10 - The Outright Transatlantic West to East World Record set by the 120ft catamaran Orange II with Bruno Peyron and eleven crew has been ratified by the WSSC as 4 days 8 hours 23 minutes 54 seconds with an average speed of 28 knots.

July 6 - Bruno Peyron and his eleven crew aboard Orange II set a new Transatlantic record from New York to The Lizard of 4 days, 8 hours, 23 minutes and 54 seconds at an average speed above 27 knots via the theoretical route. The maxi catamaran has smashed the 24-hour record twice in this journey, reaching an average speed of almost 32 knots and clocking 766 miles in one day. July 3 - Bruno Peyron and 11 crew set sail from New York on the maxi-catamaran Orange II on Sunday in an attempt at the crewed Atlantic record. They have since gone through the 750-mile barrier in 24 hours... A new world record if ratified by the WSSRC. http://www.orange-sailing-team.com/en/

June 25 - Kiel Week, Germany. Multiple World Champions Darren Bundock and Glenn Ashby have continued their unbeatable domination winning Kiel Week in Germany on the Olympic Class Tornado. June 21 -

June 18 - The Texel Dutch Open championship comprises of all catamaran classes competing as one fleet on a handicap yardstick. Darren Bundock and Glenn Ashby AUS sailing a Hobie Tiger won the event as well as the short track series, a match racing event. June 14 - The Volvo Extreme 40’s - After nearly 70 races, in five countries, during seven months it all came down to the last day to decide the winner. June 12 -
Zwitserleven Round Texel Race has received 418 pre-entries. The annual catamaran spectacle will start on the Dutch Wadden Island Texel with a helicopter giving the famous smoky starting signal on Saturday June 17 at about noon. http://www.roundtexel.com

June 7 - Launching - French skipper Franck Cammas' 105ft (31.50m) maxi trimaran is the 6th maxi-mulithull to have come out of the Multiplast shipyard in Vannes since the year 2000. (Only 7 multis of this size have been built in the world.)

June 4 - Pete Goss and Paul Larsen, sailing the ultra-lightweight SeaCart 30 trimaran, took line honours in the Multihull Grand Prix and MOCRA classes in the UK's largest yacht race - the JPMorgan Asset Management Round the Island Race. 1,587 boats took part in the race around the Isle of Wight. The team used the race as a ‘shake down’ for next week’s two-handed Shetland Round Britain and Ireland race, which commences in Plymouth Sound on June 11. June 4 -  The first Fountaine Pajot’s Mahé 36 is due to land in Australia in January 2007. Three orders have been taken for the catamarans in the Asia Pacific region. The Mahé 36 was designed to meet three stringent objectives: to be affordable while offering excellent value for money, be ergonomic and comfortable, and lastly to possess outstanding sea performance with centralised handling. May 31 - Boatspeed north of Sydney will build a 95 - 105ft trimaran designed by Nigel Irens and Benoît Cabaret and commissioned by SODEB’O and Thomas Coville, which is geared for breaking the single-handed round the world multihull record. May 29 - The 2006 Dent to Dunk Race - The first Multihull was Bernie McErlane’s 11·8 metre catamaran, ZIPPY that took both line and handicap honours. http://www.apyc.yachting.org.au

May 23 - The trimaran Gitana 12 dismasted in front of the port of Nice. The mast fell slowly backwards, without injuring any of the crew. All the equipment was able to be salvaged as the sea was calm and the wind limited to 10-12 knots. The bulkhead holding the hydraulic rod on the stay (cable which keeps the mast forward) which tore off. http://www.gitana-team.com

May 23 - Aussie Sailors Chase World Trifecta - Beijing Olympic medal aspirants Darren Bundock and Glenn Ashby have kicked off their quest for a triple crown of world sailing titles in just eight months by winning the ISAF world multihull title in Austria. May 19 - 2006 Australian Marine Awards - The sailing side of the industry was nowhere near as strongly represented as power boats. In Sailing Non-Trailerable Commendation Awards went to the Bluewater Cruising Yachts Bluewater 450M and the Lightwave Yachts 45 Sailing Catamaran. May 16 - The Dent to Dunk Cruising Race & Rally for sailing yachts, multihulls and motor cruisers will be conducted from May 20 - 30. The Coral Coast nine day rally begins May 21 and the race and passage rally start May 27. May 15 - The team from Seawind will be at this year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on May 18 – 21 with the newest Seawind 1160 and Seawind 1000 on display. The Seawind 1160 will then head to the Whitsundays for the Seawind Rally before beginning charters with Queensland Yacht Charters. May 11 - Ellen MacArthur and the crew on the trimaran B&Q finish the final leg of the eight week Asian Record Circuit 2006 in Singapore after
sailing over 4500 miles via eight countries and establishing 13 new records. MacArthur sailed with a crew of four that has included Chinese solo sailor, Shaun Weng, Singaporean solo sailor Elaine Chua, French solo sailing star, Thomas Coville, and the regular crew of Loik Gallon, Erwan Lemeilleur and Charles Darbyshire. http://www.teamellen.com

May 11 - Geronimo will forgo a record run from Hong Kong to Yokohama as a typhoon is brewing just to their south. The maxi trimaran will sail for Taiwan to escape from the typhoon. http://www.superyachting.com/

May 10 - Last weekend six 60ft trimarans docked in Canary Wharf in the middle of London's business centre. On Monday they started the Londres-Alpes Maritimes yacht race (London - Nice), the first event in the Multi Cup Café Ambassador 2006. April 8 - Asian Record Circuit - The trimaran B&Q reaches Terengganu, Malaysia, the penultimate stopover port. After a total of 4301 miles sailed so far, via 7 different countries, B&Q establishes 12 records with only one more stop and one more record remaining for Ellen MacArthur and her crew. http://www.teamellen.com

May 5 - The WSSR ratifies a new World Record:
Transpacific East to West - San Francisco to Yokohama by the 90ft trimaran Geronimo skippered by Olivier de Kersauson FRA and 10 crew.
with an elapsed time of 14 days, 22 hours, 40 minutes, 41 seconds for the distance of 4482nm.

May 3 - Volvo Extreme 40 grand prix series, Baltimore - Double Olympic medallist Randy Smyth and his all American team of Stan Schreyer, Jonathan Farrar and Richard Feeney took the overall victory, winning by nineteen points from Team Holmatro. May 3 - Australians Darren Bundock and Glenn Ashby win the Eurocat for the 3rd year in a row.

May 1 - Southern Cross Yachting will promote the first Australian RYA training courses on catamarans at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on May 18 – 21. The liveaboard courses on board a luxury Fountaine Pajot 43 can be completed over weekends or five days with a maximum of five students and include all meals. April 30 - Ellen MacArthur's team on B&Q have left Hong Kong for the remaining leg of the Asian Record Circuit to sail around Hong Kong then to the next actual stopover in Malaysia via mainland China, Vietnam, and Thailand. April 27 - Geronimo, the Capgemini and Schneider Electric maxi trimaran skippered by Olivier de Kersauson, broke Steve Fossett's record from San Francisco to Yokohama, Japan.  The time of 14 days, 22 hours 40 minutes and 41 seconds is to be ratified by WSSRC. http://www.superyachting.com

April 26 - The WSSR Council announces the ratification of a new World Record for the greatest distance sailed in 24 hours - up to 60 foot.

April 24 - Phil Amos and his weary crew are on their way back across Bass Strait after successfully completing the The Hydro Tasmania Three Peaks Race. In gale force conditions which saw only 9 boats finish from 16 entries, the Seawind 1000 Alize powered on through to complete the course and be awarded both the Tilman Trophy and Director’s Cup. April 23 - Asian Record Circuit - The B&Q trimaran, skippered by Ellen MacArthur, completed Leg Six from
