May 19 - 2006 Australian Marine Awards - The sailing side of the industry was nowhere near as strongly represented as power boats. In Sailing Non-Trailerable Commendation Awards went to the Bluewater Cruising Yachts Bluewater 450M and the Lightwave Yachts 45 Sailing Catamaran. The Windcraft Hallberg-Rassy 43 won the Imported Sailing Category prize with a Commendation Award going to the North South Yachting Bavaria 37 Cruiser. April 10 - Construction has started on a new fish handling facility at Mackay Marina Village which is set to attract more commercial fishing dollars to the Mackay region. The total gross value of Australian fisheries production is now $2.3 billion (Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics). These craft are required to display a verified builders plate giving the maximum persons and maximum loads.
